Battling one of Norway’s most powerful tidal currents, Karl showed patience, strength, and skill to bring this incredible specimen to the rocks, a capture that will undoubtedly go down as one of the standout shore-caught cod in the region.

“Some fishing trips are planned. Others turn into stories you tell for the rest of your life… During a recent outing at Saltstraumen Brygge, British angler Karl found himself locked in a battle that would redefine his idea of a ‘good catch’. What began as a heavy pull on the line quickly turned into a test of patience and strength. After nearly 20 minutes, the reason became clear: a massive Cod weighing 28.06 kg surfaced, a rare and remarkable sight, even in these fish-rich waters.
For Karl, who has fished in Northern Norway for over a decade, this moment stands apart. Originally from England, he has returned year after year, drawn north by the combination of powerful nature and quiet simplicity. Over the last several seasons, Saltstraumen has become his natural base, a place that feels less like a destination and more like a tradition.
