The anglers on our guided Skrei Cod trip to Camp Steinfjord on the famous island of Senja in northern Norway have just returned home after a fantastic week on the water, with the trip delivering exactly what Arctic Norway is famous for: big fish, consistent action, and memorable days on the water.
From the start of the trip, the weather gods were very kind, apart from the first day, which was a little windy; the rest of the week was perfect, with calm seas and clear blue skies for the most part, enabling the group to fish five days straight.

With favourable conditions and abundant fish, the action began immediately on day two. After we caught up with Emil, the camp owner and CEO of Steinfjord, we were very happy to read his WhatsApp message, which simply read:
“The guys must have boated around 200 Skrei Cod, the biggest about 18kg.”
And that was only the beginning…
Throughout the rest of the week, our anglers enjoyed some incredible sport, boating big numbers of hard-fighting Skrei Cod between 15-25lb, with plenty of fish over 30lb, several topping 40lb, and a top weight of 48lb. Kieran and Nick, who joined us on the trip, wrote:

“The trip was great. We were very fortunate with the weather, the camp and facilities are well run and kept in good order, our guide robin was top notch and most of all the fishing was relentless with tumps and rumps of cod 15-25lb caught a good few over 30lb and a couple over 40lb with the heaviest weighing 22kg with works out around 48lb.”
“The fishing was relentless! There weren’t many fish under 15lb, and it was non-stop the whole trip. The weather was superb, the facilities, guides/staff were all first class too.”

About Camp Steinfjord…
The camp is located on the famous island of Senja, the country’s second-biggest island. It has a long tradition of fishing, having previously served as a local fish factory, which offers a clue to the quality of angling in the region. It now provides anglers with a range of generous facilities, including comfortable accommodations, premium boats, a seaside restaurant and, of course, some fantastic sea fishing opportunities. While we run dedicated, fully guided Skrei Cod weeks, the camp also offers fantastic mixed fishing throughout the year for all manner of species, including resident Cod, Halibut, Coalfish and Plaice, to mention just a few.
Accommodation is designed for flexibility, with options to suit groups of all sizes. Cabins and apartments feature comfortable bedrooms, private bathrooms, kitchens, and communal spaces. The camp also includes a large drying room, a filleting hall with freezers, and a tackle shop stocked with essentials. Evenings can be spent at the nearby pub or at the Fat Cod restaurant, where fresh seafood is served with sweeping fjord views.
