Over the last week, the fishing in South Africa at our Jeffrey’s Bay resort has been fantastic, with an incredible number of big sharks landed to all anglers fishing its stunning coastline.
With strong easterly winds blowing for a sustained period, the fish have really been feeding hard, and on just one-morning session, our guide Pierre and his group of anglers landed well over a ton of sharks, with all six rods landing fish over 100kg! An incredible mornings sport and a truly memorable day.
In the early part of the week, it was a case of David v Goliath, as the team at the Lodge were guiding a group of ‘Dads and Lads’, with Jandrè (10) and AJ (13). The boys did brilliantly, and both landed a big Bronze Whaler in what turned into an action-packed double hookup!

“I absolutely love seeing the look of excitement, awe and panic on kids faces when they experience the initial screaming run of a huge turbo-charged Eastern Cape Bronzie. The kids were amazing; they fought through the pain barrier and got the job done.
A special mention must also go to 16yr old Anè, who also landed another beast of her own.”
After being tagged for research, all the sharks at Jeffrey’s Bay are always safely released.
