Nappstraumen, Fishing Report 2nd April 2024

We have started a new week at Nappstraumen where, with a good forecast for the week, we had high ambitions for the fishing. Already on Wednesday, when the first guests arrived at the camp, a couple of boats rushed out to sea for an afternoon session on the Cod and managed to pull some nice fish in the few hours they had. Besides the biggest fish of 18kg, Martin and the gang had a pod of killer whales come in to inspect the boat.

The good forecast would change in the coming days, and we have now had a tough time getting out, but we solved that by running close to shore on Friday, targeting some Plaice. We caught lots of fish, so everyone was happy with fun fishing and plenty of flatties between 50-57 centimetres. Yesterday and today, however, we were able to head south in search of Cod, and we had a successful result because yesterday, we found a decent collection of fish that had pushed in close to shore. We had fun fishing with many fish and some nice ones in the 15-18 kilo class.

The weather will offer a lot of wind during the day tomorrow, but as tomorrow is April 1st, Halibut fishing officially opens again. We will hopefully be able to fish fairly protected from the wind in the immediate area. With a little buoyancy, we might be able to fight a serious flatfish, which we have longed for. So tomorrow will be a really exciting day, and we hope that the big flatfish are on the hook.
