On Thursday, the weather turned out for the best for fishing. All boats set out early in the morning for the outside of Lofoten. Most of the groups had their sights set on Cod and big Coalfish that day. The guide boat with Calle had a plan to look for slightly larger Cod on the edges to deep water. It was sluggish at first but after a bit of searching and patience, Calle found fish of 45-50m who were hungry. It did not take long before the first 10 kg Cod were in the boat for us. After that, several fine Cod came up around the 7-8 kg class. It also hit with nice Coalfish when you crank up due to the depths around. The biggest Cod for us in the guide boat was a nice piece of 16 kg. There were also many nice victories around 7-8 kg also for many of the boats.
Day no. 2, Kristian would drive the guide boat and it was a long trip for Halibut planned to a new place for us in Nappstraumen. There were a bunch of boats that joined in to try out the new site. When they arrive at the spot they were going to fish at, it did not take long before the first boat team announced on the radio that they had landed the first Halibut for the day. It turned out to be a nice Halibut around 100 cm. Later in the day, the other boat reported that they landed their first for the day and it turned out to be a nice fish of 122 cm.
On the same day that many of the groups went on a long trip, our guide Calle and mechanic Mats took the opportunity to test some Redfish fishing from Nappstraumen. And that day was very successful for us. We found many nice places where it took place. We managed to catch a lot of Redfish around 1.5 to 2 kg. The top fish for us was 2.2 kg. It is great fun now for us that we can offer you fishing for Redfish from Nappstraumen now.
Unfortunately, the weather has changed completely to the bad side for us on the Lofoten the last few days. Even so windy that we could not get out on Monday. When we have managed to get out on the last day, we have had to lie down and fish in the vicinity of the camp to seek some protection from the wind. The fish were hungry so it was a good end to this week for us. Now we hope that the weather will change soon and it will be better for next week for us. So that we can get out on the big blue again.
